Thanksgiving Fun 2012

11/27/2012 by Pattie 2 Comments

Thanksgiving Day was super fun at the Moss Homestead this year.

I decorated every single room up for Thanksgiving; end tables, coffee tables, entryway, kitchen….every surface I could find had stuff! Yeah, it’s an illness I think. I go overboard a little bit.

The kitchen counters had all kinds of turkeys and pumpkins everywhere……

Real fall pumpkins as well as glass ones. It was really cute!

Merlene and Don Moss came for dinner on the Sunday before Thanksgiving….

Grandpa Don passed out his life history he’d been working on for 12 years! It was awesome!

Cute Tiff and Gary….

Family Picture for Thanksgiving Day 2012…..

Want to see some cute decorations? Well I have plenty. Here is my entryway table decorated for Thanksgiving……

The kitchen buffet was decorated with Thanksgiving pilgrims…..

And Indians….and Look! I even made a little fall subway lettering in a picture frame!

More pilgrims…..the little girls love my tiny set of pilgrims and Indians at a tiny table. The legs are broken off of two of them now, but we still set them out.

Devin and Caitlin came from Chicago and stayed 8 days! It was wonderful to have them here. We threw a baby shower of Caitlin one night last week and she got a lot of fun loot!
We played pin the hat on the turkey….the girls and Devin loved it! (Devin is just a big kid, didn’t you know?)
Caitlin and Devin made gingerbread cookies for us to decorate. This is Devin’s “anatomically correct” gingerbread girl….lol……
Sadly, it melted in the oven and we couldn’t figure out which girl had the…..well….the….well endowed body…..hehe…..
Entry table in the great room was so cute! This candy was all gone about 10 minutes after all the kids arrived……and I think I had 5 bowls everywhere……what the heck?
Thanksgiving table decorations……
Marisa was all ready to eat at the kiddie table….I got 2 little pilgrim bears and a soft turkey for them to take home with them……all of them loved the turkey. Megan got to take it home…..

One of the end tables in the great room……I love fall decor!
The piano was decorated for fall too…..Happy Thanksgiving!
Here’s our buffet table with all the vittles in the kitchen…..

We had lots of good stuff too!  I always forget to take a picture of the turkey though….sniff sniff….

The kiddie table with all 3 girls chowing down…..

Don’t you love Megan sticking her tongue out? That’s just special…..lol….
Coffee table decor……
End table in the living room……
Desk decorated for Thanksgiving in the living room…
We all made some fun pilgrim hat cookies with Keebler striped shortbread cookies, some icing, some small peanut butter cups and a slice of gumdrop for the buckle. These were to DIE FOR good!
And I ate a bunch of them…bad me…..
These turned out cute and yummy….Pilgrim Hat Cookies…..Made from Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Keebler shortbread striped cookies!
Then it was the ipad games all around…..and phone games…..
All 4 of these kids love ipad games! Even the 2 year old Josie is great on the ipad!
Then we played Apples to Apples in the great room…..John doesn’t like games so he plays for 5 minutes and then sneaks off to watch football in the basement…..here he is about to make his getaway…..
The little girls and Devin, Cait, Wendy and I decorated gingerbread houses and cookies…
I think this one was Marisa’s house…it was super pretty!
This one was Josie’s house….very cute!
Jeffrey always wins the games we play. He got 7 on Apples to Apples and I only got 1. How did that happen? It was a fun Thanksgiving Day hanging out together.  I will miss everybody. It’s so great to be together.

We had a family baby shower for Devin and Caitlin’s first baby. She is due in 2 months.

 Aren’t they the cute couple?

She got lots of warm and fuzzy sleepers….this one had a cute dog on the behind…..

Some toys and baby booties and a Johnny Jump Up only it’s now called a Jenny Jump Up! More PC>

Blankets and Tiff made them a very cute quilt out of Caitlin’s nursery colors.

This is a cute blanket/stuffed animal thingy. The little girls loved it.

Then we had lots of fun finger foods to eat.

Cute cupcakes for the Baby shower.

Baby shower owl cupcakes in lemon creme….

Pigs in a blanket and mini quiches….

Brownies and the little girls helped put the baby bear pics in each one…..they loved that!

This berry trifle was sooooooo yummy I wanted to take it home with me!

Pretty food table…with cute Owl papergoods….

 Caitlin with her new quilt.

The grandkids modeling all the goodies….

Aunt Robin and cousin Casey and Heather came too….

Tiffany was the hostess with the mostess….

Caitlin calls this her presidential candidate pose….”vote for me!”

some of the baby gifts had such cute wrappings….

then we played games…..this one was concentration baby sayings with matching candy bar names for prizes….

 Roll a double and pick a prize…then steal somebody else’s prize….

I think everybody had a great time. I hope they liked all their loot!

Thanksgiving Cupcakes

11/15/2012 by Pattie Leave a Comment

I had my little granddaughters for the weekend last weekend. We had do make some Thanksgiving cupcakes. They LOVE to bake with me. And I love to watch them be creative with food.

Aren’t they just the cutest little girls in the world? Yeah I think so too.

Marisa got new glasses. She is already learning to read in kindergarten. She’s got a chocolate face just like her sister. We had lots of fun playing with food!

I just started decorating for Thanksgiving too. Here’s the start of my dinner table….it’s getting there…..

Cheesy Breadsticks,

11/02/2012 by Pattie Leave a Comment

Cheesy Breadsticks with Parmesan and garlic. mmmmm…….Make some to go with your favorite Italian dish!

Easy Cheesy Breadsticks

1 1/2 C warm water
2 T sugar
1 T yeast
1/2 t salt
3 1/2- 4 C flour
1/4 Cup butter

1/4 Cup fresh Parmesan cheese

a few shakes Johnny’s Seasoning Salt

This recipe will make about 20-24  seven-inch breadsticks.

1. Mix the water, sugar and yeast together in a measuring cup or in the bottom of your mixer. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

2. Add the salt and the flour a little at a time till mixed.  Beat for 5 minutes with Mixmaster dough hook. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

I got a new beater this week at Kohls with a 30% off coupon! This was $10 off!

3. Place on greased cookie sheets in 6 inch rolls or use a pizza cutter to cut them into strips.  Use silicone brush to lightly brush melted butter on top of each bread stick.

I poured melted butter and then fresh Parmesan and  a few shakes of Johnny’s seasoning salt.

I just use a pizza cutter and do strips of breadsticks. I don’t really care that they are lopsided or whatever. I was just doing them for the hubs and I so who cares. For company I’d make them the same lengths and thickness so they would look uniform.

You could also use just Garlic Salt instead or just leave it at Parmesan cheese and butter.

4.Lightly sprinkle Johnny’s Season salt and parmesan cheese on each bread stick.   Let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 375 for  10 – 12 minutes. When they are golden take them out. Yum. You will LOVE THEM!

Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks! These are fast, easy and sooooo YUMMY!  Try them!

Halloween Cupcakes

10/29/2012 by Pattie Leave a Comment

I played around with some Halloween Cupcakes for a work party.
I had about 7 different designs on my Halloween Cupcake treats.

It was fun to make the “Purple People Eater” cupcakes with little eyeball superballs.

My favorite Halloween treats were these brownie skeletons made from white chocolate disks for the heads and yogurt covered pretzels for the bodies. I had to put chocolate icing on the walnut brownies too.

Here is a plate of my finished cupcakes. Love the chocolate vampire cupcakes with M & M eyes and candy corn teeth. The bloody smiles are made from red fruit snacks cut into strips.

I had some spider rings at school I added to the spiderweb cupcakes but forgot to take pics afterwards. The mummy cupcake was super easy with M & M eyes

I added a small box of vanilla pudding, 3/4 cup of sour cream and some butterscotch chips to the batter of the cupcakes. I also added half melted butter, instead of 1/2 the oil. It just tastes better. I hate cupcakes where I can taste the oil! Yuck!

Finished Halloween cupcakes and treats on top. They were very colorful and very yummy too.

The easiest Halloween cupcakes were the spiderwebs and pumpkins. Just chocolate chips for the jack-o-lantern faces. I  just added chocolate chips for the face and some pretty sprinkles over the orange and green icing.

This vampire cupcake was so cute. I thought it turned out cute with the brown sprinkles for the chocolate iced hair, and the M & M eyes. I made some eyes brown chocolate chip eyes  too. I couldn’t decide which one looked better.

Notice the 2 colors of spiderweb cupcakes too. I think they both look really pretty. It would be a cute plate to just have the 2 flavors of spiderweb cupcakes for a party.

I also made a pan of brownies too. They were skeleton brownies. I added candy corn to the square brownies.

I added pretzels and white chocolate candy melts for the faces. The rest of the body I used just white buttercream icing and made the legs and hands with a pastry bag and a decorator icing tip.

Here are my 2 little pirates at the Halloween Party. Argh! Matey! Have a Happy Halloween!

This cute and easy green Frankie door is from Mel-designs. What an easy thing to do for Halloween if you HAVE a green door!!
Hanging Bats
Martha Stewart has this cute porch scene with a bunch of bats in a “Bat Cave!” Wouldn’t this bea easy, but creepy for Halloween?
Between Naps on the Porch had this cute Halloween scene with fresh flowers and pumpkins and fall leaves and cornstalks. I love the cute scarecrow peeking from behind!

autumn wreath made with indian corn
I love this hanging decoration using indian corn and apples and fall leaves! So pretty! And you could leave it up all the way to Thanksgiving!

custom screen porch

This one is my favorite. I have a bunch of these obelisks in wrought iron. It would be so easy to cover them with sheet material and then add a black taped on smile and eyeballs. Cute Ghosts! BOO!
I’ve got to get busy making my yard look spooky for Halloween!

Gardner Village Witches

10/20/2012 by Pattie Leave a Comment

We took the girls to Gardner Village on Wednesday.

We shopped around in the candy store, the fabric/quilt shop, and the decor stores there.

Then we looked at the ducks and things in the water….It was such a sunny, lovely October day too! I love Gardner Village!.

Here’s a witch on a raft in the water! lol. There was another one riding a bike overhead. Everywhere you look were WITCHES!
I think Meg wanted to feed those pretty ducks. She was pretty mesmerized by them.
We loved this witch in the shady corner. And I loved this picture of 3 happy girls!

Josie was Minnie Mouse. So cute!

Josie loves her big girl cousins too!
Here’s a great photo Tiffany took of all of us. I loved it.

Marisa and Meg were witches. Pink witch and purple witch. They left their brooms at home.

Cutest picture of the day at Gardner Village; all 3 girls smiling AT ONCE!

They must have had a good photographer…..NOT! I just got lucky.

And there I am. I had to get a picture with my little cuties.By about this time They probably got sick of me snapping pictures nonstop. I would get sick of me!

I had to put this one on my Facebook page. It was too cute! Love this witch too.

I loved hanging out with my daughter, my daughter-in-law and my granddaughters. We have a few more on the way. I’ll have 5 in a few more months. Not telling whose babies they are though.

I snapped a really sunny picture…nobody liked it at all. Too much glare!
So we stayed in the shade. Little Meg, so cute. LOVE her. She just twirled and danced around the whole quaint shopping village entertaining everybody.

Wendy and Josie. Pickin pumpkins at the little patch.

They are standing next to the upside-down witch with the big…bazooms!

Minnie Mouse liked the pumpkin patch and the witches too. She kept calling them “SILLY!”

I got this cute close up of my little purple witch……

Meg just had fun wherever she went. She is at that fun, everything I discover is amazing age. She just turned 4 years old.
This witch and spider web just asked for us to sit down and take a picture!
We sure had fun at Gardner Village. Everybody got a giant sucker and some Halloween jewelry to wear home. Then we all went out to dinner and met all the hubs too. It was a fun day spent together……Thanks you guys!

Garden Wedding

10/14/2012 by moss Leave a Comment

I went to an outdoor wedding over the weekend. It was so pretty. The flowers were all in bloom. How do they keep their blooms so dang HUGE?

I loved this little flower cart filled up with blooms….

The last of the summer’s flowers….

Little white lights and wrought iron decorated every nook and cranny….

I wish mine looked this big and beautiful….

Pretty flower gardens everywhere…..

I loved this wrought iron arbor with hanging baskets of piled up flowers…..

                            So pretty…..

And cute little benches for sitting and admiring all the beauty…

I almost got a good picture of the bride and groom before my battery gave out.

I loved this shot of one of the flower girls with the beautiful Utah mountains in the background. So pretty. I love Utah in the fall. It’s my very favorite season.
