Boston, Doobie Brothers, Journey, Steve Miller Band and other Summer Fun!

08/16/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

The hubs and I like to go to concerts lately. We are on a kick. We decided not to do a vacation this year since we’d just stuccoed the entire outside of the house and spent a small fortune. Plus John is very busy at work this summer writing his fingers to the bone on code.

So I told him I’d just get a bunch of tickets to fun events. Here were a few.We saw Boston, Doobie Brothers, Journey, Steve Miller Band, Peter Frampton, Wicked, Little River Band, and Jim Gaffigan, the comic, is coming up.

Here we are at Draper Days. We loved going to festivals too. We went are going to Swiss Days in a few weeks.

Little River Band at Draper Days

There were lots of reptile exhibits at the Draper festival too. Here were a couple of creepy ones.

Dunno what this is but it is freaky deaky!

The Doobie Brothers  great. I loved singing along to their songs.

The best by FAR was BOSTON! I sang along to all of their songs. It turned out to be a sprinkly day but it only rained for about 2 minutes and it was warm rain.

Here is the rainbow over Usana Amphitheater for the Boston and Doobie Brothers concert.

One of the best songs of the night at the Boston Concert. This is my favorite Boston song “Long Time” with the prelude being “Foreplay”. So cool.

The hubs and I enjoying the Doobie Brothers or Journey on a blanket. We saw our neighbors that live across the street on the blanket in front of us. Karen snapped a picture of us. What serendipity! It was fun visiting with them.
Rockin’ out with JOURNEY.

Journey saved most of their best songs for the end of the night. And it was a Thursday so we were both really tired by 10:45. We are getting to be old peeps. So we started walking out early as he was singing “Don’t Stop Believin”. Cool.

I think this was Peter Frampton. Yeah he is still cool in his 70s! I am lovin the concerts. We are having this summer.

Parade of Homes Alpine Utah Part 7

07/26/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

Okay this was the last of the Alpine, Utah Parade of Homes houses that I absolutely fell in love with. This grandkids playroom extravaganza was just so darling in a word.  It is a double decker little “town” of fun. Can you see the hair salon, the post office, the trainville room? SO. MUCH. FUN!
There was a kiddie movie big screen with treehouse bookcases on both sides and a game system under the kiddie couch.
Parade of Homes Alpine, Utah with all the cute kiddie fun, who wouldn’t love coming to visit grandma and grandpa? I wanted to climb around in this little fun village!!

Game systems under the kiddie couches.

There was the kiddie bakery. Now talk about a kitchen set. This would be any little girl’s dream kitchen!

I loved the “grandma’s cookies” recipe on the chalkboard. SO cute. The mini fry pan and sink and  baking jars added such a cute touch.

Gotta have a chef’s hat and apron! Of COURSE!

The cash register is always a hit with little kids. This one looked like a real one too!
My daughter and I were playing in the post office. There were all these mail slots we were trying to figure out! (we are just big kids, don’t ya know?)

Each little doorway leads to a different “store” that has lots of things on a theme to play with! I can’t remember them all.

But the Lego room was a hit with the grandkids. Who doesn’t love Legos?

Then there was this princess dress up room with big mirrors everywhere. My daughter and I wanted to try on some of the hats and boas……snicker…….

And maybe put on some make up like a movie star would?

Or how about get your hair done in the beauty salon? Wouldn’t that be a day of fun? Hopefully your friends wouldn’t cut off your hair like mine did when I was 5 years old. sniff sniff…..

Dollies for the doll hair salon. See the chair in the upper left corner? I once visited Chicago’s American Girl Store. They had a doll salon where dolls got their hair french braided while the doll’s owner looked on. It was super cute.  I think these were all American Girl Dolls (at $100 a pop!). It is safe to say little girls could happily spend the entire winter playing in this doll room.

Candy by the pour or pound to watch movies with. Yeah, I wanted one of these too. I know what you are thinking!

Then at the very end of the room was a big bunkbed room with 3 or 4 sets of bunkbeds.  Each one was decorated in a different color. It was super sweet. My granddaughter Meg wanted to buy this house SOOOO bad! She was promising to save quarters and dollars if she could get her mom to comply.

Pretty bathroom with the vanity and stuffed, pink bunny standing guard.

Jars full of toys and action figures.

Cute butterfly art.

There were lots of these metal picture frames in the Parade of Homes houses. It is very popular now in bedrooms too.

Cute little black and hot pink girl’s bedroom I loved. The architecture was so interesting where all the points meet. I would have chosen white plantation shutters though. This room could have been much brighter. I did the same thing with wood blinds in my home when we remodeled and it darkens the rooms. I’ll always go with white in the future.

These were Lovely homes every one we visited. There is so much to see, with cute little decorative spots showing some swag everywhere you look. I always love the Parade of Homes. I will be visiting next the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes in a  week. I wonder what new and exciting things I’ll see there?

Beautiful Yards and Landscaping in Utah

07/24/2014 by moss Leave a Comment

We’ve been hanging out at the Parade of Homes in Highland and Alpine, Utah lately. We saw some pretty yards that I was coveting, if you want to know the truth!

Look at this Parade of Homes back yard. It is so lovely and green! They probably didn’t want the hassle of a pool, so they put in a splash pad instead! This one is in Highland, Utah.

The homes themselves in the Parade of Homes were so pretty. The front had such interesting architecture and rock facings. But the landscaping is where I really fell in love.

The brick walkways leading up the this house were so pretty. I loved the circular brickwork with the flowers on either side.

The backyards were almost over the top beautiful. This home had a pool, splashpad, fire ring, multiple covered patios with T.V.s and BBQ areas.

I would love a pool with a slide, wouldn’t you? I’d hate cleaning it though.

You can see this covered gazebo area with a splash pad, a big screen and BBQ.

Just off the house was this fireplace seating area with the BBQ and view of the pool.

Here is the other side, where you walk down to the swimming pool.

This was my favorite Parade of Homes backyard area. There is a Basketball court, a putting green, a splash pad and pool and many other fun things. You’d never leave in the summer!

Here you can see the walkways for exercising, the fire ring, the green back area, and a bit of the pool. There was so much to do here. I loved this yard.

Well, we decided to go spend some time in the outdoors too. So we went to the cabin and rode quads. Our landscaping is nothing to write home about, but we have a goal now.

We sold some of our outdoor furniture and we are starting a fund to do something fun at the cabin. Not on the grand scale we’ve see in the pictures above, but something fun. Maybe a volleyball court and a jacuzzi and a circular driveway using crushed gravel. That is doable!

More junk we sold, in addition to 2 bikes, a dirtbike, a piano, and some tables and chairs.

Then we went and relaxed at the Journey and Steve Miller Band concert at Usana Amphitheater. It was fun.

Journey and Steve Miller Band Concerts were both awesome, as well as the Tower of Power band.

My favorite was Journey. Here is the awesome guitarist doing his thang.

We also spent Saturday night at Draper Days Festival and saw Little River Band. Here I am making friends with a baby crocodile (or was it an alligator?)

We’ve had some fun so far this summer, the hubs and I. You have to take a break from all that weeding you know!

Parade of Homes Alpine Utah Part 6

07/19/2014 by Pattie 1 Comment

This Parade of Homes in Alpine, Utah was one of my very favorite homes. It was a multi-million dollar home. And you can see why. It was really gorgeous!

I would love to have a pool, putting green, firepit, basketball court, backyard like these guys will have. I was coveting their backyard! Who wouldn’t? But there is more.

The kitchen was really neat too. I loved the ceiling in this kitchen. It was cool. I loved everything in this house. I’d move in tomorrow if I could. You’d find me lying by the pool.

The gray and blue color scheme with lots of natural elements throughout the house appealed to me. I loved this pretty laundry room. I probably wouldn’t mind doing the laundry so much if I had a room like this. Well….maybe not. I’d still hate laundry.

But these beautiful things would make it a less hateful task….yup.

Isn’t this a cute little corner table? I loved it. Parade of Homes Alpine, Utah was  so much fun!

This was a cute bedroom, I loved the striped wallpainting and the architecture.

Cool nautical colors and some cool graphics on the walls.

Another beauty of a bedroom in red, white and black. I love this color combo. Red IS my favorite color you know! And a nice view of the pool and sport court.

Pretty bathroom with the hammered copper sink. I always wanted one of these. But when it came time to redo both my bathrooms I wanted granite sinks instead. Go figure. I like rock!

My granite is easy to keep clean….this copper…I bet not so much. Granite hides everything. As in….my lack of bathroom sink cleaning……snicker……

This little cubbyhole had all 3 of my grandkids wanting to get in there and play. It had a game system with a T.V. and some cute and comfy seating for kids. And it’s all in its own little noise closet. What a GREAT IDEA.

This must be the adult hang out, or the man cave or something. It looks like a good place to watch sports.

Right next to the downstairs kitchen off the pool was really cute and kind of retro looking to me. It had lots of metal accents and Coke accents.

I remember really liking the floor. It looked like stained and polished concrete. But I could be wrong.

There were lots of fun things to do in this house. The ping pong and shuffle board tables were decorated with BYU sports memorabilia and a giant Y flag and painted icon. These were definitely NOT Utes Fans. :-O

Back to the Pool……dontcha wanna go swimming yet? I do……sniff sniff….

My granddaughter looking longingly into the pool. It was such a hot day and this was just so gorgeous! I feel her pain.  My granddaughter who is only 5 kept asking “If I save up all my dollars can’t WE buy this house?”   So cute.

This was a really original looking sink. I’ve never seen one like this. It was cool.

Pool changing room with lots of cupboards and towel storage.

Game room again with the T.V.s in the background.

This led into the movie room I think. Little drinking fountain was cute. These doors, or a variation of these train car style doors were in all the parade of homes houses that we looked at. I love them. I want to do them somewhere in my house.

Kiddie game table in the corner. Uno anybody?

This was a really cool T.V. Movie room. There was this bar up top as you walk in with canisters of candy and some neato neon lighting. You could sit up here and have a snack or drink your cokes while watching the game.

Hey, they like the same kind of candy we do! Sour Patch Kids are the bomb! And Reeses Pieces are foods of the gods! There will be Reeses in heaven, I’m sure of it. And it won’t have ANY calories either!

Movie room full of comfy seating and a BIG, GIANT screen. It must have been more like 100 inches.

Now one of the best parts of this house was the grandkids area. Here is just a sneak peek. It started with these two giant treehouse bookcases, then a big screen, and a gaming system under the comfy couch settee.
All around this area was a grandkid’s play paradise! I took more than 25 pictures just of the grandkids area. It was so darling. My grandkids went gaga over it. They were running all through it squealing with delight. There was a Lego room, a Post Office, a Doll Hair Salon, just to name a few.

Here is a game system for them to play on the big screen T.V. I guess this would be for the bigger kids that are not quite teens. But what if your grandkids are just in kinder or 1st grade, you ask? Well lookie here… we have something for everybody in this house! Super fun.

It’s a double-decker fun palace! If you want to see the rest of it I’ll post the rest tomorrow. But here is a little bit of the little village of fun houses. Can you even imagine how much fun winters would be if your kids just played here in the playhouses? Yes, it would be heaven. I loved this Parade of Homes, Alpine home. It was my favorite.

REPAINTING AN END TABLE

07/15/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

This Repainted end table looks 100 times better than it did a few days ago! END TABLE  LOOKS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY! Look what it used to look like!!

Look at this old, ugly little end table thingy. I didn’t even know if it would be worth saving! My hubs called it a piece of trash and said to send it to the garbage heap! But the “do it yourselfer” in me said “NO WAY! This trash is TREASURE!”

BEFORE PICTURE of the PAINTED END TABLE ….I was using it in the basement and had topped it with some leftover granite that we had after redoing our basement guest bathroom.

It was so heavy we kept thinking it would fall over and land on somebody’s foot! EEK!
AFTER PICTURE…….HERE IS MY PAINTED END TABLE NOW! Not bad!

Plus the edges were rough since it was a leftover piece. So last week I decided to paint it and see if I could do something with it.

So I sanded it just a little bit, and then primed it with some VALSPAR PRIMER….and then painted it with black RUSTOLEUM SPRAY PAINT.

I just sprayed it out in the backyard on the grass. Heck, when the hubs mows it again, you’ll never know I was there! Well, maybe after 2 mowings….snicker…..

It took about 2 coats of paint before it looked about right.

Here’s my paint. I like this ULTRA COVER RUSTOLEUM PAINT in combination with the VALSPAR PRIMER underneath.

So here is my finished little table.  It looks a lot better than when I started!

I got the top as a tray from HOBBY LOBBY for only $11.00 with a 40% off coupon. Then I glued it on top of the old and ugly top with LIQUID NAILS.
You can get it from Walmart for a few bucks. It is a great adhesive product. It works fast and holds tight.

The little black tray was such a steal! It’s a little dusty but I love it already!

I’ll have to find a nice little spot for this repurposed little table,
won’t I?

Parade of Homes Alpine Utah Part 5

06/30/2014 by Pattie 1 Comment

This was one of the most amazing of all the houses we looked at the Parade of Homes in Alpine, Utah.

I loved this entry table and picture of the Salt Lake temple in the Parade of Homes in Alpine Utah. The mirrored cabinet and the silver decorative touches looked so elegant.

Very masculine office with a fireplace AND a beautiful view!

The living room had a nice view of the mountainside too. The decor was very traditional and formal and lovely!
This was a $2.5 million dollar home in the Parade of Homes in Alpine, Utah. Look and you can see why. It had a HUGE lot. It was so pretty in the front. I loved the architecture of the outside of the home, and the entry and backyard were spectacular!

Here is the other half of the front of this HUGE Parade of Homes house. It kind of goes on and on, and the neighborhood is also lovely.
This was the backyard. My granddaughter asked “If I save all my quarters and dollars, can WE buy this house, mom?”  It was super cute. But we had to let her down gently…..lol…..
It had multiple backyard covered terraces with big screens, (as in more than one)  BBQs, slides, splashpads, firepit, and all the other toys.
The girls really loved this pool with the fun slide. And there was also a splash pad, a trampoline, a putting green area…a firepit….. lots of fun.

I was really jealous of this wonderful yard. Who would even need to go anywhere else all summer? This would be party central!

The kitchen was all white with some black and yellow touches….Here is the fridge.
This house won all of the awards as you can tell.
This laundry room was to die for. The cabinets went on and on…..
And wouldn’t it be great to have double washers and dryers for those days you have tons of towels? I loved the decor in yellow, white and black.
I think this was a dressing room ?  Megan tried out one of the seats.
Pizza Oven? Just off the movie theater….
This was an indoor swim spa right off the outdoor pool and the indoor weight room and fun area. Look to the right and you can see a soft serve ice cream station near the swimming pool on the outdoor patio. You’d have the whole neighborhood hanging out here!

The entrance to the family movie theater was filled with italian sodas, candies of all kinds, popcorns, lots of fun here. My grandkids are going gaga over it. You can see them plotting how to get some of this candy! tee hee……

Italian Ice station…..yummy!

Italian Sodas, Popcorn and Candy galore……so FUN!

Fun popcorn flavorings

 Kitchen area in the basement.

I think this was the basement family room and 3 big screens. 3 BIG. SCREENS PEOPLE!

Maybe it is for all the teenage boys to play video games in competition. I remember once my 16 year old having 12 kids over to play HALO on split screens (4 players on each T.V.) and we used multiple T.V.s  It was fun to watch them having fun!

Some more BYU fans can play on this brand new basketball and sports court! It’s indoor of course. You can play basketball all winter long! It was really neat.

I think this was at the top of the stairs, a private little reading alcove.
The architecture was cool with the beamed ceiling and the windowseat. I liked the way this picture of a runner with the “BYU” flag was displayed too.
Looking down on the living room with the grand piano, the backyard and a unique ceiling and wall treatment.
This was off of a little girl’s room. Hey there I am with my granddaughter Marisa. She loved the little girl’s room.  These little chandeliers were so pretty. I loved the black and white decor here.
We all fell in love with this little girl’s room in pink and blue. The bedding and furniture were darling.

The only thing I would have changed was making the plantation shutters white instead of black in this room.

Pretty little girl’s room. I loved the mirrored closet doors too.

White would have looked better here, don’t you think, on these shutters? But I loved the window seat, the little pink and blue bins and pillows too.
Bathroom attached was also very feminine with pink accents.

I cut off the wheels in this pic, but this looked like something from Restoration Hardware with these “wheels” on the little settee. It reminded me of a train car. Check back to see the basement activities in this Parade of  Homes house in Alpine. It was really quite fantastic!

Parade of Homes Alpine Utah Part 4

06/27/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

This beautiful home we saw in Alpine, Utah on a very big lot of land. I think the houses in this area are all so unique, but the best part is all the greenery and large lots with truly awesome landscaping. And the houses aren’t bad either!

Parade of Homes Highland and Alpine, Utah, Part 4. Here is the little room off the front entry. It looks like the library.
Beautiful Piano room. I loved the arched windows

This jacuzzi tub could fit a family inside! But they better get some blinds!

Beautiful master bath. I loved this hammered pewter vessel sink. I think it was pewter. HERE was a similar one. I loved it. So elegant!

Giant walk in closet with those pull down closet rods. I wonder if that would get old. Oops here I am taking a pic! Don’t you LOVE those blue booties we all were wearing. What a fashion statement!
Cute quotes from famous Actresses on being PRETTY! This was obviously a girl’s bathroom!

Wouldn’t you love that beautiful view while taking a long soak? Mmmmm…..YES!

Pretty pintucked bedspread in the girl’s room. This wallpaper was textured like it really had been painted on with a stencil. We couldn’t figure out which it was. You can get these bedspreads at West Elm HERE. Or I’ve seen them in white at Target.

Bathroom off the kid’s bedroom.

I would have never thought to put Roald Dahl (kid’s books author) and the Dalay Lama’s quotes side by side. But it does look great.

Marisa made a good model and posed for me all day long. 😀

One of the guest bedrooms all done in black and turquoise blue. The wallpaper was very pretty.  Or else it  was another painted on stencil.

Creative kids nooks for storing all kinds of toys and junk at the Parade of Homes, Alpine, Utah.

I loved this gallery wall bookcase. This would be cute in any bedroom or classroom too!

Costume Dress up area in the little girl’s room was very cute. My grandkids would love playing Dress UP!

My little granddaughter found a little nook to check out with blankets and pillows in the little girl’s room.

Beautiful and elegant kitchen design at the Parade of Homes, Alpine, Utah,  with some intricate woodwork and glasswork on the white cabinetry.

This is a fridge people. I.LOVED. it. Those drawers were very cool!

Living room was done in gray and black. This coffee table decor was very interesting to look at. I’d never seen one of those round wire doo dads before. But I know my grandkids would want to take it down and roll it a around.

Beautiful mountain location, lot size was humungus, and the splash pad and covered areas were very pretty.
Lots of areas out back to sit and read a book.

Dining room had very traditional furniture pieces.

Trail mixes and nut jars in the kitchen.

Top of the stairs. I liked this little nook area. I have something like this at my house I recently painted aqua beachy blue instead of dark black. It looks great!
This was a Sauna room AND a steam room! How fun would that be?

Someone is a Bronco lover in this house. Lots of the homes  had framed jerseys of favorite players. Several were in this home. They had their own drinking fountain too!

Workout room…

Media room had lots of Harry Potter things on the walls. The entrance said HOGWARTS. So cool!
There were lots of signed photos. It made us wonder if this homeowner worked on movie sets. Maybe he’s a director or something.

Cool sword. It was probably a prop in a real movie.

Well my daughters went wild over this cool room. It was about this time that my granddaughter started asking lots of questions. I think she’d like a video game room too!

Cute little tea room for the granddaughters.

2nd kitchen outside the movie/media  room. There was lots of gray and black and silver decor here.

This looked like a cross between an air hockey table and a pool table. I don’t know what it was but it looked fun!

This was a cool guitar and music room dedicated to THE BEATLES!

There was lots of Beatles memorabilia, records, sheet music wallpapered to the walls, everything was Beatles music.

And pictures and old posters of the Beatles and lots of other BEATLES DECOR too.

Even Magazines of the Beatles on the Coffee Table. Boy kids better not eat their ice cream sundaes on this table!! EEK….

Somebody is a real music lover in this house!

I loved this area where they had a gallery shelf set up with the vinyl, LP records in their cardboard covers.

Backyard off the basement funroom. There was this cool fountain to the right where the water came down like it was a long bubble. There was a firepit, BBQ area, splash pad and a few covered areas.

One of the very fancy sinks in the powder room. This decor was very traditional and formal for the most part. It had darker colors than I prefer but it was beautiful just the same.

Museum of Natural Curiosity Thanksgiving Point

06/26/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

I tagged along with my daughter to check out the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point. She has a season pass so I got in for half price! Woot!
Thanksgiving Point Museums are the best! The Museum of Natural Curiosity is very creative and captivating for almost any kid (even big kids like me!) I loved this replica of the water tower out front. Wouldn’t this be adorable in your yard? I’m gonna talk it up to the hubs.  😀

They have stuff for 1 year olds to enjoy! This water table looks like you’d get wet, but you DON’T! It’s amazing!

The girls were building roads for the water to pass through….it was fun to watch them get into it!

I think the water area is the most fun of all at the Museum of Natural Curiosity. But the Rainforest area seemed like Tom Sawyer’s Island at Disneyland. It came in a close second place!

Lots of things to turn and spin and lots of hands on fun!

The girls played oin this wet area for a good while. It was fun. They had galoshes you could wear because everybody’s feet get kind of wet.

This was a tornado tunnel. The kids spin the crank and a mist tornado appears out of nowhere!

It was very cool! OOOOHHH   AWWWWW!

Dylan liked the kiddie play areas. They were spread out everywhere so he had fun too climbing, sliding, putting the balls into the holes and watching them roll out again.

“Where should we go next grandma?”  (I don’t know I’m already pooped after climbing around on the rope bridges!)

Yup. He’s a good climber. Lots of places to roll around with those of your kind (1 year olds….) 😀

Then there was an amazing climbing wall and an Amazon area of just slides, rope bridges, ropes courses and ladders galore.

Then there were the educational exhibits. Marisa loved seeing all the animal xrays.

You could take a stuffed animal and set him on the machine and push the button and the machine would xray and show you the dog’s bones. It was very cute and very popular!

Here are a bunch of kids xraying cats and dogs and mice.

Megan liked the train car area where you make a little train go around a big track just near the ceiling. Fun!

Then we went out back to go see the pond and the ducks and the caves and the Noah’s Ark splash pad. I was pretty beat by then. The kids wanted Slurpees. I wanted Pizza. It was a beautiful Utah afternoon. I highly recommend it! The snack bar was great too as was the gift shop.

Parade of Homes Highland, Utah Part 3

06/23/2014 by Pattie 2 Comments

This is Part 3 in a series of tours we took looking at 6 FABULOSO Parade of Homes houses in Highland and Alpine, Utah this past 2 weeks. We did 3 homes a day and that is about all you can do without getting kinda overwhelmed with the beauty and decadence. I loved it though. It is a fun and fabulous Utah thang we LOVE to do!

This was my favorite thing in this house in the Parade of Homes in Highland and Alpine, Utah. It was scrawled in black paint onto this mixed media art piece framed in the couple’s master bedroom. It made me think that the husband had built this beautiful dream home for his wife, and that she got to decorate it how she wanted to, and this fulfilled the hubby’s fondest dream as well as hers!
What a loving sentiment. I really liked it a lot. It made the occupants of these otherworldly beautiful homes seem more real and everyday people. Who wouldn’t want to give their spouse their fondest dream? Well, I loved this dreamy living room too. The colors were awesome, the clock over the fireplace and the fabrics and rug were all so unique and creative and different.

Once again, these cool, sliding wooden doors were in the Parade of Homes, Highland and Alpine, Utah. All 3 of the first homes we looked at had them. Some looked more like barn doors, these were pretty with wrought iron and whitewashed wood. I loved them.

Master bathroom was done in white cabinetry and glass blocks.

Who wouldn’t love a huge closet like this off the master bathroom? Well I, for one, would!! Gimme, gimme! My clothes are in 4 closets in my house! This would save me a little time!

This sitting room was off the front door I believe and had lots of natural light. The lemon yellow and aqua blue color scheme was so appealing. I liked how they had decorated the shelving. Very cute.

Pretty bedroom decor in gray, silver and blue with white accents. I loved these pretty hanging lamps and the “Love you Forever” pillow.

Another bathroom in grey and white. Oops! You can see me taking a picture of myself in the mirror. My bad. I liked these rectangle vessel sinks. I have a master bath that these would look really good in.. I am trying to decide if we should do soapstone or slate or quartz counters.  Most of these homes had quartz or Caesarstone, which is the newest and very high rated solid surface material.
This little girl’s bedroom and bathroom had lots of mermaids in the decor. I thought this would be a really cute theme.
More of the little mermaid statues in the bathroom…keeping with the mermaid theme…..

Everybody really loved these shimmery wallpapers. Lots of the Parade of Homes houses had a room with some glossy wallpapers. They really did make the room, along with the natural wood headboard and the white pintucked bedspread. I found similar ones at Target HERE for $89.00 and one for $99 HERE at Houzz.

Loved all the white iron and cream colored accents here too. This idea of type up your thoughts and feelings and putting it into a large wooden frame in a bedroom is such a sweet and lovely idea. How wonderful of a gift would that be? Yeah. A GOOD one!

This was a basement living room and game table in cream, yellow, coral and aqua blue. I loved these painted yellow chairs. I have lots of boring oak chairs at my cabin I should paint a bright color like this! That would be an easy update with all the spray paint colors there are. If you want to try it check my spray painting wood tutorial on my blog HERE.

Most of the modern cabinetry in kitchens and basements seemed to be white. It probably reflects more natural light and that would be great in a basement.

I totally have to copy this somehow. I loved this little phrase!

I loved the yellow accents in this room.

A
Entry area to the fun parts of the house….the basketball court!

This workout room was obviously made for a BYU Fan!  I loved the oscillating ceiling fans.

Off of the workout room was another exercise area! How about having your own indoor basketball court. How fun!

This was a “viewing area” upstairs from the basketball court. It would be a fun place to get a coke and a sandwich and chill out watching a game,  wouldn’t it?  Some of the decor in these homes included framed jerseys from some of the BYU great players of the past. Maybe they were friends?

Cute craft room also had a view of the sports court. They always have a cute way to hang the ribbon for the wrapping station. I want to see a good way to store all the wrapping papers! I just have a tall white rubbermaid bin filled with rolls of wrapping paper! That is NOT very decorative people!

I took this picture because I loved the lanterns on the floor. These would look great in my basement! I gotta find these!

Mud room. I loved the color of the painted back door. It was such a pretty shade!

My daughter and I loved these little blue bottles across the little drop down shelf from the ceiling in the dining room. I loved the hanging round lanterns as well. HERE  ofor $99. It is a similar metal strap globe lantern that is handmade. You could paint it your color and add an electrical kit to it.

I have these same chairs in my dining room (the blue linen ones at the bar, only I think these were blue leather in this house). There is my grandson riding on his mom’s shoulders. He was a total doll all day. And it was a rainy day!

This Grey range hood was really pretty with all the carpentry surrounding it. This area also had a double oven and warming drawer. I’d LOVE a warming drawer! It sure would come in handy on Thanksgiving. It’s HARD to have everything done on time!

Another living room with blue and brown with white cabinetry.  I loved these cool lamps and the silver,  mercury glass accent pieces on the shelving. I found some close-outs at Macy’s for mercury glass candle holders Here

This table centerpiece was so beautiful. I loved the chairs and the hanging lamp too. I saw this in one of the other Parade of Homes houses too, only it was hanging high from the ceiling and there were 5 of them! So pretty. The kitchen cabinets went all the way to the ceiling.
Here is a close up. I loved this! You could change out the candle colors to orange for fall and Halloween, red for Christmas and Valentines, and Green for St. Patrick’s and Pink for Easter! I love doing that kind of thing and it is so EASY!

I thought this would be a really easy decoration for a kid’s room using just some simple clipboards and some scrapbook papers with something cute like darling little quotations printed on the scrapbook paper. So I took a pic to remember. Maybe I could use this idea in my classroom too?

I loved this idea for my classroom too so I wanted to remember it. This was a counter in the desk area for the grandkids to play with grandma’s stuff I bet. lol.

We liked this cute office decor, so bright and happy!

Such a pretty music room in the Parade of Homes in Highland and Alpine, Utah.

This was a kid’s playroom area. I loved this paint color on the walls and the metal baskets that looked like lockers under the metal “PLAY” sign. I think it lighted up at night.

More of the kid’s playroom area.

Guest bedroom in yellow, brown and basic black. The headboard was pretty cool.

We sure had a fun time. There’s Devin looking out the window. I think all of these homes had the most fantastic backyards with lots of “toys”. I should have taken pics of the outside too. But suffice to say, they were also dream yards. Oh I think I could be a happy rich person! Hope you got some inspiration. Check back for Alpine homes we saw. Those were even more fantastic!
