St. Patrick’s Day Decorating

03/12/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

Well, it’s the Irish holiday of St. Patrick’s Day almost upon us…..I decorated a bit.

I love the cute little leprechaun my class made a few years ago out of laminating empty rolls….they were cute! And look at that awesome tablecloth I actually sewed myself! Yeah, I rock just a little bit on that machine. lol.
Some of my favorite March St. Patrick’s Day story books I read to the kiddos.

My classroom Calendar bulletin board….I change it out every month to match a holiday or the season.

I love the holiday full of rainbows. I taught the kids all about ROY G. BIV. That is the clown who reminds us of the rainbow color order.  Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. I just mix up indigo and violet and call it purple instead. Then they do a pot of gold with a 1 inch x 12 inch strip of each of the 6 colors and glue them on the back of a pot. We add fake coins glittered to the top.

We made Leprechauns, March Book Reports and some Leprechaun similes and pots of gold.

My classroom St. Patrick’s Day Bulletin Board we just finished today at school. I love how it turned out with all these pots of gold and Leprechauns!

My front entry room table decorated up with St. Patrick’s Holiday stuff.
I love this picture of 2 of my granddaughters from Chuck E. Cheese of all places!
I love this story The Luckiest Leprechaun!
Coffee Table with Happy St. Patrick’s Day decor at my house.

I love this holiday. It is fun to get out all the green stuff for March. I’m glad Easter is late this year so we get a whole month to enjoy the Irish stuff. Kiss me I’m Irish!

All Of Me – John Legend & Lindsey Stirling I LOVE LOVE This song.

02/17/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I’m around through every mood
You’re my downfall, you’re my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues
I can’t stop singing, it’s ringing, in my head for you

[Bridge:]
My head’s under water
But I’m breathing fine
You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind

[Chorus:]
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh

Give me all of you
Cards on the table, we’re both showing hearts
Risking it all, though it’s hard

How many times has a song evoked such an emotion inside of you that you not only can’t get it out of your head, but it carries you through the bad parts of your week? I love this song by John Legend.  It was introduced to me at the 2014 Grammy’s this year. A year filled with shock value songs and a gay men and women’s wedding ceremony. Among all the creative hullabaloo was just a simple and beautiful love song, sung with passion and piano to the one he loved sitting in the front row spotlighted. It was such a tender moment. You could hear a pin drop. I loved it.  John Legend, a smart kid who started high school at age 12 and graduated 4 years later and went on to Penn State. He formed many choral singing groups that he was the musical director of. He is superbly talented. His lyrics ring so close to my heart. I think he’s a musical genius. I wish he’d come to Salt Lake City. Thanks John Legend for the beauty you add to my world. You make my day.

Valentines Day Decorations in the Front Entry….
Just a few more days till Valentines Day! I’ve got the house all ready for the festivities!
Valentines Decor on an end table in the living room…..

I really love all of  the cute conversation hearts and red chocolates boxes and cupids that make up the holiday of love.  I’ve got a lot of cute stuff stashed away in my February decorating bins.

Coffee Table decor for Valentines Day

I used to always buy my kids a valentine of some sort as they were growing up. Somtimes it was just a baggie full of chocolate kisses. Sometimes it was a little toy or something. But the last few years I’ve mostly spoiled the grandbabies.

Cute Kitchen Table decorations….so cheery!

I love to change the pictures and decor of my gallery wall to match the holiday. I change the black iron cones to different flowers and greenery as well as adding seasonal doo dads to them like sugared valentine hearts and red berries. And I love getting out my seasonal placemats and runners for my kitchen table.

My little grandbaby just turned one this week. She looks like a little pink and perfect sweetheart doesn’t she? And she’s lovin that cookie I bet.

I like the kitchen to look cheery with a few new hearts and flowers! It helps my attitude when I have to go out into a frozen world every day. I keep this LOVE lamp lighted all month. It’s a fun night light when I wake up in the night with insomnia or just coming home from work.

Kitchen counter Valentines Hearts…..hugs and kisses!

I found this cute cookie sheet at Hobby Lobby. They already have EASTER decorations out! EEK!

The valentines cookie sheet will be a fun activity for my students at school and for my monthly family dinner at my house with all my kids. My girls will love decorating some sweet sugar cookie designs.  I’ll have to be on the lookout for some really cute valentine candy.

This time of year our family also likes to make a pilgrimage down to Heber to go to the Crater there at the Homestead Resort. HERE is some info on it. It’s one thing we did very soon after moving here to Utah. We went snowmobiling and then afterward bought tickets to swim in this natural hot spring where a crater top is built over it. It is so fun to go there, get into your bathing suit and run, freezing as fast as you can from the dressing rooms to get into the nice warm water.

Gotta have some silver and red chocolate kisses for the candy dishes. I just buy the clearance Christmas kisses and take out the green ones. Guess what I do with them? mmm……yup. those puppies are long gone!
This is great little pillow for a Hot Potato Game….for a kid’s Valentines Party. And it’s a cute door hanger too!

I can’t believe how much Valentines Day Decorating stuff I’ve accumulated…..

Living Room Valentines Table decor…..

I worked at Kohls while getting my Master’s Degree in Education….so I got great discounts
on lots of their fun decorations at holidays….. It’s hard not to go overboard though….:D

So anyway, here’s inside my front door……
My dining room picture wall….each season I change the black metal cone contents…..and
hang some new ribbons or a swag of some sort on the wrought iron bar…..
Great Room entry……I love this jingle bell heart…..
Hanging from the dining room chandelier…lots of hearts here….
Kitchen table….I love placemats and runners…..and I change out the candle colors each season….
This little plate rack in my kitchen I’ve got Holiday plates for every season now….
Well….except for 4th of July…Maybe I can find some red, white and blue ones….hehe….

Valentines Picture Wall of my family and grandkids….
Outside on the front door I hung a heart ornament on a beaded wreath….I’m so crafty…hehe….

Front entry table….I love this light up LOVE lamp….it stays on all season long…..

My 3 sons and my darling first granddaughter….some of my fav peeps…..

My grandkids love all of my candy dishes…only thing is….these conversation
hearts are like a year old….I buy them after the season…they are for looks only! I actually think they might break your teeth if you chomped down on one of em……

I love this little cupid lamp…..Got it at Kohls after Valentines Sale.
Love the little glass heart box I found. NOW I’ve got Valentines Decorations all up now! Ye Haw!

Olympic Torch Art made from a Cone and Tinfoil

02/09/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

I wanted to teach the kids a few things about the Olympics in Sochi, Russia happening this week. I always love watching the opening ceremonies and the pride I feel in our country represented by hundreds of cool athletes from all around the U.S.A.

We made Olympic Torches for art this past week, and I had them write about the Olympics.

Our classroom bulletin board of the Sochi, Russia Winter Olympic Games turned out pretty.

Tacky and the Winter Games is a book I sent away for on Amazon to read the kids too. HERE is a link.  Tacky is one of my all-time-favorite book characters. He is so funny and odd but always saves the day

I looked on Pinterest and around the internet and found a few fun ideas for things we could do. I have always loved watching the figure skaters in the Olympics. Who doesn’t remember Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan and the hoopla of THAT winter olympics?

Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 Pictograms
Here is the Sochi set of Winter Olympic Pictograms. I used these to put kids’ face pictures on the “heads” as they choose their favorite Olympic Winter Sports. Check out HERE at this Flicker site for more pictures.
Sochi Winter Olympics depicted on our bulletin board.

I can’t believe the  Salt Lake City Winter Games were  back in 2002!  The students chose their favorite of the 15 events and I put their pictures on top as a headshot. Super fun!

Then I had them decorate a white piece of 5 x 5 paper in red, white and blue and we glued their skier or skater or bobsledder on top of it with their face cut out and glued on top of the athlete icon. Then I backed them with red or blue and attached them to the board. These turned out super CUTE!
We also did a class graph of favorite Winter Olympic Events and I think figure skating and snowboarding were winners.
pictogram answers

Here are the Pictograms. I used the Salt Lake City Pictograms from the Utah Education UEN Website for my headshots HERE.  I just liked the black background better and also because it listed the name of the sport.
I made up some SOCHI 2014 banners with the Olympic Rings too and we looked up what each color of the rings stands for. Then I had a mom helper glue their face to their favorite or most admired winter sport.

So I had the kids also do a graph choosing their favorite of the Winter Olympic Sports. Boy did we have a lot of ski and snowboard lovers in our class! (I don’t think anybody even KNOWS what a bobsled is! :D) HERE are some cute graphics I used to create our Class Olympics Graph. It was free on TPT. Some backround information and stationery is HERE from TPT. I forgot to take a picture.

Olympic Torches out of paper cones covered in tinfoil. The flames are orange, red and yellow tissue paper squares.

Then we chose our sport and wrote why we’d love to be in the Olympics. We brainstormed how exciting it would be to wear the Red, White and Blue, go to the opening ceremonies wearing the U.S. Team Uniform and hat, (although this year’s hat is kinda weird looking in my view) and live amongst the top athletes in all of the world, even if only for a few weeks or days. I hope they will all be safe in Sochi 2014. That’s always a concern these days, sadly, isn’t it? The best bunch of activities that I found for FREE was HERE at First Grade WOW. Thanks so MUCH! There was everything from Math to Nouns and Verbs and Wordsearches. She matched some activities to the cute Tacky the Penguin Book (My favorite Children’s Book of all Time).

Their”Olympic” essays were a lot of fun to read. Some cute word wall vocabulary cards can be found HERE at TPT.  My favorite stationery I found was HERE at TPT.  It was soooo cute!
Winter Olympics Writing and  Olympic Torch Art…..

I found a cute Olympic Bingo game that was super colorful but I wanted Winter sports only. It is HERE at learning treasures. I’m going to keep looking.  A cute wordsearch I found HERE at Sports Girls Play. And a very cute Olympic Torch outline is quality-kids-crafts. I did a variation on it in my class so check them out below. Another cute BINGO game with WINTER sports only is HERE at Classroom Jr.

Here is another bulletin board we did just outside our doors. Underneath are the 15 events I had copied many years ago during the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002. I just pulled out my file again. Good memories! I got to go SEE that opening ceremony. It was magnificent!

I wanted the students to experience Russian Culture a little bit too. So we will make some Russian Nesting Dolls out of paper next week and write poems about the Russian Olympics. I brought in the dolls I bought in Armenia many years ago when I traveled to Russia. HERE at activity village are the printable and free download of the Russian Nesting Dolls blackline. They turn out really cute! I’ve done them in the past when we had a rotation for Christmas Around the World and I presented Russia. "Semenov" Babushka DollRussian Nesting Dolls I have at home from my trip to Russia a few years back.  I also showed them some travel brochure picture posters I made up of Russia with some of their cultural icons like the Onion Domed buildings, Their government leaders (Putin) and who their Santa Claus is! (Father Frost). And I will read them some of the stories of “Babushka” by Patricia Polacco because she depicts the Russian culture in her stories. Here are a few of her famous books. I hope we bring home lots of gold this week at the Winter Olympics! Go Team U.S.A. Babushka's Doll443633

Super Bowl Fun!

01/30/2014 by Pattie Leave a Comment

Who Will WIN the SUPER BOWL on Sunday?

Well, we have voted for our favorite teams for the SUPER BOWL game Sunday. My class seems to think Seattle Seahawks will take the day! I reminded them that the losers have to do 12 push ups. I have done my push ups many a year when I chose and voted wrong!

Are YOU going to ROOT for my team?
This little girl LOVES BYU! GO, FIGHT, WIN!

We had written about our favorite football teams and made little cheerleaders and football players. I wish I had time to do it this year again. It was a lot of fun!

So in honor of the super bowl, how about I make the hubs some football pancakes for breakfast to go along with his sausage and eggs.  Cute right?

HERE is a cute Football Player Printout. that gave me the idea for these cute football outfits the kids made.

HERE are also some of my favorite football snack recipes. Gotta love a good pig in a blanket right?

I made this brie cheese baked in a puff pastry last year during the Super Bowl…it’s so easy and yummy!
The recipe is on the Puff Pastry website as well as a video How To Do Puff Pastry.

And you can’t beat a Texas Caviar dip (black bean and corn salsa) . Recipes is  HERE.

What is YOUR favorite football team? Seattle Seahawks? Denver Broncos?

Lots of BYU BLUE represented for sure!  Rise and Shout the Cougars are OUT!

Make Your Own Wraps are always a great Party Food Option, especially for those health conscious sports fans….and guys always love any kind of mini sandwich on hogie breads. Or you can make them on white dinner rolls.
Or make a homemade pizza or two are always appreciated…YUMM……check it out HERE.

Pizzas are always great for a Football Party Snack. You can’t go wrong!  Make your own in your little cast iron fry pans!
The girls had a “pom pom” added to their outfits…..
The boys had a football added to their outfits…… I know, I’m not very PC am I?

Gotta Love some Football chocolate cookies, now don’t ya? Get a tablecloth from the dollar store or a party store. I got a bunch of stuff after the Super Bowl last year on clearance, so I’m set!

Ya just gotta love those “cleats” now dontcha?

A free printable of the FOOTBALL subway art is below. It’s cute at the house for a football party, and it is cute on a bulletin board too! HERE is a Football Printable   Football helmet printables football helmet printables HERE

I hope the Utes don’t blow us away! I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
f_foot.gif (11231 bytes)
Cute Football Player color and cut-out activity great for little kiddos….

One more thing I found that I thought would be a fun thing to do for my grandkids to keep them busy during the games coming up. They love to color and cut out things like paper dolls. So how about a paper football player? Maybe in team colors! Making Friends.com has the download.

Football Subway Art
Martha Stewart had a few “Football Snacks” that looked kinda delicious to serve at your Football Tailgate Party too ! Check them out at Martha Stewart’s website. I love little smokies in a piggy blanket! Yummy. Have fun with the football fanatics at your house!

Touchdown Treats

Cute little football player cupcakes would be so fun for the kids at a Super Bowl Party…..not to mention the big, male kids who are attending the party!!! lol….. you know who you are!

HERE at the Family Fun website I found these cute cupcake football players I thought would be super cute to make for a Super Bowl Get together……M and Ms for the eyes and yellow buttons, black skinny licorice for the facemask.  Kids would LOVE these.

Football Cupcake
But they would also love these football cupcakes! These are also from FAMILY FUN HERE.

If my son Devin were in town he’d want me to make him some Buffalo Chicken Tenders too. Check out the recipe HERE.  Well, we are going to go to a super bowl party on Sunday. I hope I picked the winner!

Valentines Day Decorations in the Front Entry….

Ever notice how Bare Naked the house looks after all the Christmas stuff is put away? Well, it has been a whole 2 weeks that the Christmas decorations have been taken down and I’m kind of missing all the glitter and tinsel. And it’s only like a month till my other favorite holiday comes around, Valentines Day! I’m kindof in the mood…

Valentines Decor on an end table in the living room…..

Snow Sledding in Utah

01/16/2014 by Pattie 2 Comments

There are some fun places in Utah to go snow sledding. One I know of is Soldier Hollow. It is on the way to Park City  so Check it Out HERE! It’s probably the best place I know of. But there are lots of parks in the Salt Lake and Sandy and Riverton area where there are sliding hills too. We went to one park near my daughter’s home and just had a fun sledding afternoon with the family after meeting for lunch at Pei Wei for some Chinese food. We all had some time off the week after Christmas and it was really pretty snowy and cold that whole week.

Family sledding day. Jeff and Wendy met us for lunch at Pei Wei but then the new baby needed to go down for a nap so they missed the funnest part of the day…..snow sledding! Gary even went and got his snowboard and went for a few short runs! Caitlin snapped all these cool pics. She’s an excellent photog.
Baby Lena was sledding for the first time in Utah. She is super cute and always has a smile on her face!

Megan is always smiling too, and eating something yummy. She’s my mini-me. We went back to Tiff and Gary’s house for some hot chocolate and snacks afterwards…..but this may have been some chocolate fondue we did on Christmas Eve….that was yummy too! Maybe it was chocolate with bacon and fondue and hot chocolate….no….no I’m just dreaming aloud now…..lol.

My little Marisa Belle in her cute ski gear. I got everybody a new funny ski hat for Christmas. It’s a bummer I didn’t take any pics of everybody in their new hats. Bad me. Note to family; at some point in the future you WILL have to show up for an embarrasing snow hat photo shoot. Just sayin….

Little Lena sledding for the first time. It was really cold but really puffy light snow, so it was fun.

Best picture of the day maybe. So sweet of my son and his little happy girl.

Lena and Caitlin. They had matching tan coats…they are really, just so cute!

Tiff, and baby Dylan on his first time sledding. I don’t know if he liked it much…..

Gary and Dylan…..Yeah….he’s not a fan of sledding….maybe by next year he will be….lol….

Caitlin took these wonderful pics with her DSLR camera. I wish I knew how to work mine better. I handed it over to the hubs who took no pics. Saywhat?  Dead battery?  Yeah, aren’t we just great planners?  (no, not really).

But I coulda told ya Megan would love it. She loves anything adventurous…..she is our resident water baby….someday she’ll probably be doing ski jumps in the Olympics or something.  Adventure girl. I’m changing my mind. This is the best pic of the day.
It started lightly snowing after about 2:00. And it got pretty COLD! So here I am…not much of an adventure girl anymore….but I loved going sledding with my kids and grandkids during the holiday break. Marisa and Megan and I took several runs together on the longer sleds. They are a riot! I’m going to buy a few after the season on a good clearance sale!

Megan Tremayne age 5 Snowman Picture

I’d forgotten how much fun snow sledding can be and especially with family. Thanks kids, for showing me some more ways to have family fun.  Love you guys.

Downtown Abbey Viewing Party

01/12/2014 by moss Leave a Comment

Let’s have some Downtown Abbey Party Fun

I decided to make some “tea cakes” and have a dinner “viewing party” for the return of Downtown Abbey Season 4 tonight. Surprisingly, the hubs is not that excited….(sounds of snickering). He’s more of a football fan.

Mini Donut Maker was fun to try out!

I got this new Mini Donut Maker for Christmas so I thought I’d put it to good use. Too bad I gave away my English chocolate bisquits  at a White Elephant gift party on New Year’s Eve! That would have been a great addition!

I think the more colors and flavors of icing you have the prettier your plates of treats will be on these donuts….
I made some chocolate icing and then used a tub of lemon icing and frosted and used lots of different sprinkles. Super fun! Kids would LOVE doing mini donuts and they are really easy using the little donut maker. It’s like making mini waffles.
Little donut treats for the Downtown Abbey Premiere Party. Lemon and chocolate iced “tea cakes”.

Buffet table decorations…..too bad I don’t have a maid and a butler.  (whaaaa…..why don’t we have maids and butlers anymore huh?)
Butterscotch Rice Crispie Treats! I just dumped butterscotch chips on top…real imaginative here…..lol…..but they are really good!

I cut these up and added them to the dessert plates full of donut “tea cakes”.
Cranberry Cilantro Cheese dip with chips and crackers…..This is good anytime…. My recipe is HERE at Weekday Chef.
Raspberry Spinach Salad with candied pecans…..
Cream of Broccoli Soup…..Yummy…..Check out my recipe HERE at my foodie blog.

My old English Bone China Tea Set I bought when I was 18…. and Silver place card holders….fun to get them out for a centerpiece….
I have lots of decorative tea pots I put here and there….

These didn’t  really “taste” like a donut, more like a cupcake with the icing.
I had fun decorating them with all of my sugars and sprinkles!

Now you are gonna want to have something to do during the commercials. How about a fun BINGO GAME? Your prizes could be little English things like Macaroon cookies, Herb Teas, Chocolates, “tea towels” for the kitchen and maybe some little English Lavender soaps in cute shapes.
Downton Abbey Bingo | Paste Magazine. We are so playing this on Sunday!
Anyhoo check these Downtown Abbey Bingo Cards out HERE on Paste Magazine.I think there are 4 cards total but you could make multiple copies.

Sparkling Cider for those that like a little “bubbly”

Now you’ve got to have some bubbly too. I happen to like this flavor of Sparkling Cider! Cheers!

Downtown Abbey
Some really cute Tea Party and Food Printables for the party are HERE at a Night Owl.

It’s fun to get a group of Downtown Abbey Addicts together for yummy food and to watch the Premiere on T.V. together. So keep calm and Abbey On!

Pattie and John Moss Look Back on 2013

12/28/2013 by Pattie Leave a Comment

Happy New Year 2014 Ya’ll!
This year as I look back I don’t think we accomplished very much. We were kind of lazy. We have spent WAY too much time on Netflix and Facebook. We’ll have to repent in the new year. Our fireplace is still not all done, the master bath has new tile but that’s about all, and the house needs paint or stucco and besides halfheartedly getting a few bids we didn’t do much else except LOVE our free time.  We’ll have to set some new goals in 2014. We both celebrated being in our mid-fifties so I guess that is our excuse.
Grandpa Moss and Dylan baby….
Grandma Moss and the tiny dancers…..
Christmas 2013 family picture….
John, Marisa, Meg, Caitlin and Devin visiting for the holidays….
Grandma and Tiff and her kiddos
I have loved being a grandma. It is the highlight of my life. I can’t believe how much I love those little chubby fingers and toes and drool and endless babbling and learning what each little one loves and what will make them smile. We have gone to a few dance recitals, cabin trips, festivals  and we eat out with our kids a lot, and other than that we have dinner at the house usually monthly for somebody’s birthday.

Looking at the Pioneer Day floats in July with Tiff and Wendy and the girls….getting balloon animals and faces painted was the bomb!

We had a big birthday party for Grandpa Moss, (John’s dad who turned 87) and had the extended family over for dinner and some games. I made about 45 breaded pork chops! It was fun to set up tables all over the house including seating for 30 adults and 9 little kids under 7. I love the Moss family.

Grandpa moss, our patriarch turned 87 this year…

We still get together in the summer to swim at Grandpa’s pool, and we’ve had fun at Bear Lake in the summer and sometimes in the winter snow. I am halfway through my 20th year of teaching little kids and I love it! They are fun and funny and it is very fulfilling to me. But sometimes I think about retiring and just doing my genealogy. I’ll probably think about that for the next 5 years. Haha. I still love to do my 5 blogs and I love to cook and go to movies and dinner with the hubs. We are stay at home couch potatoes and we are getting very boring. But I am happy. I played this summer at all the water parks in Utah with Tiff and Wendy and their kids, riding tubes in the lazy rivers. It was heavenly having summers off with grandkids.

Johnny is embarking on a new adventure. An old client of his years ago approached he and his partner about starting a company for them doing bill payments which was the business they sold to Zion’s bank  8 years ago. They have been working together again and were waiting for just the right project. They are both excited to remake a similar company which will be called Convenient Payments but this time no bootstrapping and they get a cut of the company. John still has his own company called U.S.Processing that is pretty much automated bill payments now. He had been working as a consultant doing  contracts with different companies for the past few years. He put in a new bathroom tile floor and I painted the last bathroom and now the house is almost totally redone!
Hanging out at the house for John’s Birthday dinner…..Hula Hooping….
Tiff got me into waterparks for free as her plus 1.
Dylan and Grandpa soaking up some rays!
We spent a lot of time at the cabin reading, boating in summer, riding  quads in the fall and eating John’s famous waffles. We saw some eagles in our backyard tree and spent a morning taking photos of them in the snow. We had so many birds build these weird looking nests in our eaves, I think we shot down 7 bumpy dirt nests at the end of Spring with the pressure washer! The adventures of  Pattie and John.  He is still my best friend and very fun to hang out with.
Hanging out at our Bear Lake Cabin – John and the Wild Hog of his dreams…..
Patties future hog….just dreaming here….
Summertime Cowboy picture…..John is the Sheriff in this town and Devin is the Deputy.
Tiffany and Gary are still running the Lenscrafters in the Southtowne Mall. Tiffany has hired the assistants for Gary (the optometrist)  and sometimes fills in when they call in sick or something as well as doing all the books and taxes. When she goes into work if we are off we get to keep little 9 month old Dylan (My ONLY grandson!)  5 year old Megan (kindergarten) and 6 year old Marisa (1st grade). They are a lot of fun for me.
Winter recitals for Meg and Marisa.  Grandma loves to come and watch these special days.
Pretty girls of mine.
The girls are both into jazz and ballet and we get to see recitals twice a year where they dance in tutus. I got to babysit for a week while they took a trip to Hawaii for their 10th Anniversary this past summer.
First Grandson Dylan was born this year. He’s the apple of my eye.
Gary building sand castles with the girls at Bear Lake 2013.
 Gary and Tiff
And Marisa Belle….
And Miss Megan…..Bear Lake is a fun place for our family in the summertime….
I love this stage of kids’ lives where they are inquisitive, excited about little things like decorating cookies or getting a new set of crayons, and going to a park or  play land at Arctic Circle and getting an ice cream cone. I’m like the greatest thing since sliced bread to them!! We all know that doesn’t last long so I enjoy it while I can. Tiff makes beautiful quilts and gives them away to family members. She made one for Caitlin and one for Wendy and I think she is making me one right now for family picnics. (I’m only guessing here, people, we will see on Christmas morning!) Gary is our resident Clark Griswold. You should see how he decks out the house for Halloween and Christmas. He loves sports memorabilia and has lots of hats, shirts and stuff and goes to sporting events when he can. Dylan even has a Detroit Tigers binky!
Halloween 2013
Gary and Tiff on Christmas Day 2013
Jeff and Wendy had a new baby girl named Chelsea who is 3 ½ months old. She is so pretty with bright blue eyes. She looks like her mama and Josie looks like a blue-eyed Jeff! Josie turned 3 this past summer and all of us got to go to her pool party. She is a lot of fun too and loves to do gymnastics at Little Gym and  loves Disney Princesses and anything Winnie the Pooh. They took a trip to Disneyland this December so she could meet some of her favorites and had a great time…all except for the 60 degree beach day, that is. But they missed 18 degree Utah weather the same week so I didn’t feel sorry for them. Jeff changed jobs this year too and now works as a software developer for O.C. Tanner. He said it’s the best company he’s ever worked for. Jeff still likes to go hunting and fishing and got an elk permit this year but didn’t get anything (even with that cool elk caller we got him last Christmas!?)
Christmas 2013 with the family over for morning brunch. Jeff loaded down with gifts!
Wendy looked so cute in Christmas red and green!
Little baby Chelsea in her red velvet dress…super sweet!
It was fun having Devin and Caitlin come visit for the holidays.
Wendy helps a business owner with his website for cloth baby diapers with cute cloth covers which she is a big fan of. She makes fancy baby diaper covers and organizes baby clothing swaps and is the leader of her mom’s club. She is working now on a quilt too, out of old cashmere sweaters. She loves to do genealogy and Jeff and Wendy are searching their family trees and scanning pictures to put together some scrapbooks.  We see them often and meet for lunch or dinner at some of our fav places.

The 3 Amigos….I mean cousins!
Caitlin and Devin and little Lena (right) were the perfect houseguests….and left with a thank you note and See’s Candy on my kitchen counter.  Yes they did!
Grandkiddos — Can you BELIEVE  all 6 smiling at once!?
Devin and Caitlin are spending the Christmas Holidays with us here in Utah. They live in Chicago and Devin just switched jobs to a new company (he really wanted to pursue his dream of being a male model…lol) but quit Redbox and is now working for Tasty Trade. I guess he will develop software for them and also learn how to trade stocks in the process. They moved to a bigger place since having Lena last January. She is a smiling little chubby bundle of joy. She is just crawling and standing up and we just love holding and snuggling her. Devin teaches early morning seminary @ 6 am. He had a partner that was supposed to trade off weeks but the partner quit the first week of seminary so Devin has worked hard doing seminary and his job, commuting for 45 minutes each way into Chicago and all that goes with that.  He works on my family genealogy and he’s done more than I have this year. We went to the Draper Temple to do some family names together and that was very neat.
Grandpa and Grandma Moss over for Sunday dinner.
Devin and Caitlin came this summer and also for Christmas 2013. It was so fun to hang out.
The 3 grandkids all born this year. Devin loves little kids.
These 2 girls follow Caitlin around like a duck. She is like a celebrity to them. It is really cute!
Caitlin worked for the Gap (walking distance from their apartment) until they moved further out of the city. We got to go visit for Lena’s blessing in March and Caitlin has decorated the place so cute! They showed us all around the windy city and the Shedd Aquarium and the waterfront. She is writing a book for her grandpa about her maternal grandma who has Alzheimers. They went with those same grandparents to Anguilla this summer and enjoyed some time with her family living it up on a beautiful beach resort.  She is a fellow blogger (www.mosschapters.blogspot.com) and is a great photog so we get to see what’s going on in their lives. I am thankful for Skype and Facetime too so we get to talk to them on our phones and computers. We are living the life of the Jetsons! Technology is the bomb!
Lena 11 months, and Dylan 9 months.
Silly girls and Devin love making funny faces for the camera. They love their Uncle Dev.
Little Lena is always smiling. We loved holding and cuddling her.
I hope all is going well for all of you this winter.  We sure are blessed living in America even with all of its problems recently. Hugs to you and your families and a very Happy and prosperous 2014. We hope for peace and good jobs for all in the new year. Come see us if you are ever in Utah.  We’d love it!!
